Abstract

During CentreTerm, I was fortunate enough to participate in an in-person internship at Bluegrass Allergy & Asthma, a private clinic in East Louisville serving allergy, asthma, and immunology patients. As an intern, I assisted with the process leading up to the physician seeing the patient, which included the check-in process, taking vitals, and conducting Pulmonary Function tests. I also assisted the doctor while seeing patients by scribing his notes and observed in office tests, like allergy testing. In addition to my daily duties, I also worked with other office staff on insurance claims and pharmacy approvals. This opportunity allowed me to earn clinical experience hours for applying to Physician Assistant school, gain knowledge about the medical field, and learn about the business aspect of running a private practice.
